Postliminality

photographs

In a post-apocalyptic world, art ceases to exist. Since humans are the creators of this conceptual construct, in a world without people, there is no one on the same intellectual level to continue producing and evolving art. In such a world, art becomes both nothing and everything. On the boundary between the existence and non-existence of art lie remnants, actions, human acts, and values, stripped of their original meaning.

Realizing this theory, in the present — after all the pandemics, climate crises, wars, and general upheaval — we can no longer view the concept of art the same way as before. Naturally, in the future, a new reform in art will occur, both in economic and philosophical terms.

/The demise of art/

To admire or to condemn?
To destroy or to preserve?
To act or to do nothing?

These works on public streets, created by various people, represent the thin line where art resides. In our minds, where we dare to divide the world into art and non-art. These are the works that hold this world together. They exist in the middle, on the boundary between our physical and intellectual worlds. They are geometric traces of real images from public streets, accessible to everyone. Most of them are scraps and remnants of posters or other hypothetical informational boards, whose original content we will never know. All that remains is the information that something was once there.

At the same time, they are marks of unfinished human acts — a kind of work-in-progress. This is why they bear a resemblance to posters for artistic performances or cultural events, which, in these photographs, are placed in the context of a post-apocalyptic state of non-performance.
